Using Adversity, to get there...

Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which, in prosperous circumstances, would have lain dormant. - Horace

Adversity brings out skills in us that we don't recognize or appreciate that we have. Probably because we are so focused on just plain ole surviving! Never imagining I can have more. I'm not saying that the prosperous don't ever live in a funk... of complacency, contentment, which leads to routine and eventually kills a dream. Your grandparents received the gold pen after 50 years with the same company. You want more. They dedicated themselves to the same job until retirement. You can't. You can still hear her authoritative voice in your head when you contemplated starting your own business "baby, you better keep that good job." You want something more meaningful to you. I bet Grandma never experienced the soft satin fabric hiding underneath her plastic covered sofa caressing her skin either. You feel it. You long for it. Indulge yourself in the plush pillows of your imagination and figure this thing out! You have already been focused on surviving! Get to striving! Claim what's on the other side of adversity. Do you know what it is? Prosperity! Couple your survival skills with your purpose and become unstoppable. What do you have to lose if you didn't have anything to start with?

Beautiful. I think I found you by way of comments left on MizRepresent's blog, and I'm so glad that I did. I look forward to receiving more inspiration from you and your incredible gift.

Well, time to go take the plastic off of my sofa(s).

Very well said, Ms. Laushaul! We so often let the fear of the unknown or fear of failure keep us down. But, we should use that fear as motivation to push through. After all, the queasiness in your stomach, the flutter in your heart, and the ruffled nerves the are all signs that you're doing something that you love. Whenever you put your all into your passion, you're destined to be successful. I'll see you at the top girl!
